American Public Television Culinary Programs Big Winners In National Taste Awards
Several hosts and programs from APT recognized by the 5th Annual TASTE AWARDS Committee and TasteTV in the non-Viewers’ Choice Categories.Boston (Dec. 6, 2013) – American Public Television (APT), the longest-operating national distributor of programs to the nation’s public television stations, received word that a number of the hosts and series represented by APT have been recognized and received awards in the 5th national TASTE AWARDS. Founded in 1961, APT was the first to deliver such viewer favorites as The French Chef With Julia Child to U.S. audiences. Lifestyle programming – and particularly culinary programming – continues to be a major category of programming offered by APT’s with more than 40 titles among the expansive catalog of thousands of titles in rights. APT is also distributor of the CREATE ™channel -- featuring the best of public television’s lifestyle programming -- where all the winning programs and hosts may be found.
This year’s TASTE AWARDS included the induction of the following APT hosts into their HALL OF FAME: Julia Child; Joanne Weir, currently host of Joanne’s Cooking Confidence; and Rick Bayless, host of Mexico: One Plate at a Time. Special Achievement Awards included the Outstanding Passion Award, presented to APT’s Jazzy Vegetarian series, hosted by Laura Theodore.
